The Roberts {Batesville Indiana Wedding}

Every wedding has their ups and downs, but I have yet to encounter such a roller coaster with an amazing story, an incredible couple, and a guardian angel.

So, sometime in the middle of June this year, I'm playing with my phone and notice I have a voicemail {if any of you know my phone, you know it doesn't like to tell me about voicemails} so I listen to this fast-talking and peppy little voice chatter on about needing a photographer for her wedding...the normal routine.  There was just something about her voice that made me smile.  In a hurry to hopefully not put any more time between then and whenever the voicemail was actually sent, I gave her a call, expecting her voicemail, and was welcomed with that happy little voice again.
Seriously, she makes you beam when you talk to her.

Kari begins telling me about their wedding, happening in 38 days, and is slightly frantic that no one is available.

38 days?!? That's crazy!!
Until Kari said, "I know that's a little rushed, but we just want to be married! I would rather drive myself crazy for a month planning than drive myself crazy for a year...or however long people normally do that.  We just love each other and something simple and small is all we want."

I was baffled. Stunned, even.  It wasn't anything about what she said, it was the way you could feel her emotions and joy through those words.  My heart burst with happiness for her and I wanted nothing more in that moment than to be the one to capture her day.

I check my calendar and, there it is, I have her date open!  She already checked the BSP website for pricing and knew what she wanted, it was just a matter of contract and a date for the engagement session.

It was all going so beautifully.  My next open date {which was a miracle to be only a few days after the call} we did their engagement session.  Aside from my own two minute detour due to getting lost in Franklin County back roads, it went beautifully.  The sky was marvelous, the weather was perfect, and everyone was just in the best mood!!

I delivered their engagement images in record time...I mean, they were kinda on a little bit of a short deadline!

Occasionally I'd creep their Facebook pages to see if Kari posted any more about her wedding...and I like to see all the nice things people say about the engagement pictures....obviously...

And there it was...Fred had tagged Kari in a status:
"My fiance Kari was in an accident last night and could use your prayers."

Short statuses with no details make you nervous, especially when they don't have "but she's OK" in there.  The next day, Kari posts this:

My heart sank for her. 20 days before her wedding and she goes through something horrific as this. Her darling little wedding that she had been working so hard to perfect wasn't going to happen.

We messaged for a short while and she confirmed the cancellation of her wedding.  I insisted she call me to do her wedding next year when she was healthy again. She gave me permission to tell her story from the wreck.

Kari even said, "When looking at my car and accident, there should be no reason I walked away, but I was given a second chance, a chance to come home to my sweet baby girl and then marry and spend the rest of my life with my best friend!"

"My car hit a cement barrier at 75 mph, it went into the air, then landed on its side and rolled four times, then landed on the wheels.  It was on fire before it stopped and some really amazing person stopped and immediately pulled me out.  They kept themselves anonymous, but I would have loved to have met him and told him thanks.  I've prayed every day that he knows and feels it."

Kari and I {and probably everyone else} truly believe that the only reason Kari is alive today is because that stranger pulled her from the car.  I hope you find this blog post and realize that, because of you, this wonderful woman became a wife.  You did that, and you're an angel.

Then, on July 24th, I get a message again from Kari.
Well because of my accident our whole plans had to change, Fred still is super determined to get me in my dress and marry me on Saturday August 1st... We want you to do our huge party/1year/reception next summer.. We are getting married at my parents house in the back yard... I just want a picture of his face when he sees me in my dress for the first time.
Of course I happy danced everywhere! We quickly arranged everything, got our details set, and we had a WEDDING!!

And oh man, someone up there was smiling, because it was a gorgeous day!

BEST DETAILS EVER!!

Kari bought Fred a secret gift, so we pulled him aside for the best man to give him.
...and then we were attacked by hornets...good times...

They each wrote letters to each other.  Fred went fancy on his folding.

Please comment below and share this blog so that it may find the person who saved her that day and they can see what their heroic deed had done.  We are all so very grateful for you.

More tears could be shed about things that happened in the lives of Kari and Fred even before Kari's accident. Thanks for documenting the happy ending--which actually is just a happy beginning!
