(in case the link doesn't work, I've copied their story at the bottom of this post)
Out of random chance, I clicked on the name of the person who posted it and, it just so happened, they were local.
I assumed the universe was speaking to me and, since we have a special Olivia of our own, I knew I had to do their newborn session.
Little Olivia was such a peaceful bundle of love. It was incredibly hard to pick a few favorites to show!
ORIGINAL POST FROM JAMES GREGORY:
This weekend has been something straight out of a movie. Not a horror movie even given it was just Friday the 13th. More like a romantic comedy.
To start, Lauren has had medical issues in the past. More specifically she has had cyst on her ovaries. In fact, she had to remove one of her ovaries due to the severity of it.
Well, about 8 months back she had felt some pain in that region. It felt the same to her as all the other cyst she’s had. During this time she continued her cycle and the knot itself sat to one side.
A month or so later she had the inclination that what if... so she took a pregnancy test. In fact 3 over a series of weeks. I witnessed one myself. Keep in mind during this time she still sustained her cycles.
We were concerned about the cyst not having popped yet and she had scheduled an appointment for Saturday April 14th to have it surgically removed.
Thursday her cycle started again so we had hoped the cyst would just pop on it’s own! Skipping to Saturday morning at about 5:30am: lauren woke me up in sever pain. She said I dialed 911 (which if you know Lauren you’d understand how severe the pain really was.).
I jumped up, threw clothing on, and tried calming her. There was a fair amount of blood running down her leg. We at this point assumed the Cyst finally popped! The medics came in and started asking random questions as they should.
One of the final questions was how far along is she. Lauren and I both looked at each other and almost simultaneously said no no, this is a cyst that has hopefully finally ruptured.
The medics proceeded to wheel her out. I woke Rodney, up and we jumped in my car to follow them. On the way I called Jennifer, just in case something was seriously wrong.
When we pulled in, I jumped out of the car and followed the medics in with Lauren. The doctors asked a series of questions. Most of which seemed odd as we were there for a possibly ruptured cyst.
They then proceeded to move Lauren to another room. At this point she was in SEVER PAIN. I mean screaming! Again, if you know Lauren you’d know this was serious. The doctors terminology started to become more and more consistent with what would be used in labor. I’m looking around and I see these large beautiful photos of babies and families.
Both Lauren and I continued to ask what was going on. I remember thinking well I guess maybe it makes sense for them to remove a cyst on the ovary in the labor room.
It took a team of like 10 doctors to finally convince Lauren and I we were actually having a baby. We had NO IDEA what in the hell just happened. I mean months ago we had started looking into adopting. We had even spoke to Julie about possibly being a surrogate mother.
There was NO indication she was pregnant. No lactation, no sickness, no swelling... honestly she barely gained any weight in her stomach at all! Again, three pregnancies test all negative, and she was still having her period.
At this point I’m standing next to lauren in this labor room holding her hand. She’s screaming in pain, the doctors are saying your having a baby... push. After only being in the hospital maybe 20 minutes, 10 of which doctors trying to convince us... a little head began to emerge. After a few more pushes, 0 pain killers, lauren pushed out an amazing, 5 pound 6 once little girl.
Aside from having no idea she was pregnant, stranger than that, this little girl came out screaming and in perfect health. Everyone here, doctors and nurses we’re stunned! Some of the nurses even cried including myself.
So now, Lauren and I are proud to say we are parents of Olivia Renee Gregory.
